up and out of the water (a poem)

up and out of the water
onto feet
that have yet to be
again, again

the precipice
the step
the stumble
the threshold traversed—
to become
another wish for exit

the tides
a lapse
wave
waveform
existential bombast
a pseudo-event for the ages
again

a drag
a line
pulled out—
ezekiel
without a measuring line

line
line 234
exception
line

draft and cast
a spell of code
a string to thread—
the ones and ohs
all in a row

the birds and their feathers
submerged in the soup
a transmission with density
substance
and the humpback whales

wave
pulse
pressure
and the push of a god
and his weather

the push of god
and this weather—
a scourge of systems
at war
the twisters
and tragedy of storms

waveformed memory
compressed into call
a looping prayer
folded in salt

this is syntax with lungs
a psalm with mass
a pulse
sent across
the deep

a breach—
wave
wave
pulse array
angle: 13 degrees

bursts of sound
pelt the stone
with oil and grace
let it rain down—
a cascade of meaning

the brilliance of revelation
like light in a prism
fractals of glory
the mythos unravelled
and a mystery
never settled
